This morning was my son’s first day of fourth grade, at a brand new school. I was feeling anxious, excited, and a little sad to drop him off. Since Kindergarten he has been in a hybrid homeschool program. He would go to the school campus (in a tiny church) two days a week, and the other three week days he was homeschooled by yours truly. This last school year we decided it was time to enroll him in a full time school and today was the big day!
He is so excited to have a bigger class with more kids to be friends with, and to go to school Monday-Friday just like his best friends in our neighborhood. I’m excited for the music and art programs! And Mark is pleased to see his son going to the very same school that he grew up going to. We met his teacher at the back to school night earlier this week and she seems like a very nice woman. So far so good!
Each year I am amazed at how much he has grown, and how fast the time goes. I am equal parts proud and sad. As he grows into a young man, I miss my little boy. But watching him thrive is the most amazing feeling a parent can have. I thank God for the experience.
Our new school adventure is just beginning!
