October Moon Box Review

Today I’m reviewing the highly anticipated October Moon Box. If you are just hearing about moonboxshop.com, they put together a subscription box for witches. Each box is themed and centers around that month’s moon or Sabbat. I always like to mention that you need not be a witch to enjoy this box; this is for anyone who wants a little magic in their lives! The cost is $45 + $9 dollars shipping and I am about to share why it is worth every penny.

The theme for the October box is Witches Veil. “As the sun dies in the distance and the veil becomes thin, we embrace the sense of peace and connection with those around us, physically and spiritually.”

The first glance

Each box comes with parchment describing the theme and explaining how to use the tools included. A blank piece of parchment is also included so you can take notes and record your ritual.

The first item I opened are the Dragon’s Blood Incense. Used for protection and strength, these incense smell amazing and bring back memories of my teen years.

I was drawn to the Personalized Oracle Reading next. Selected from the Isis Oracle deck, each box comes with a card that is unique to you. I received the Ancient Power Mysteries.

The Samhain Book Of Shadows Artwork is perfect! I will be framing this to hang in the house each October. It has a lovely description of Samhain. Artwork by Adrienne Alden.

The Totemic Honoring Tea With Muslin Bag is caffeine free made from a blend of red rooibos, calendula petals, and a dash of cinnamon with pieces of apple. “Breathe in the warm aroma of this beautiful tea blend, sitting and saturating in the memories of your loved ones”. This is the first time I have gotten tea in a box and I am looking forward to trying it.

I think the Altar Broom With Amethyst is adorable! It is meant to be used as a sweeper of energy. Before your ritual use your broom to push out old energies, allowing for a renewed sacred space.

Frankincense, Copal and Ruminate Resin were the next items I pulled from the box. Frankincense is one of the oldest magical resins used to purify and cleanse. Copal is often called the “Food of The Gods”  and creates a welcoming environment to assist in connecting with the spirit realm. Ruminate is used for deep meditation, which is the optimal state to be in when connecting with those who have crossed over.

What good are all go those resins if you don’t have something to burn them in? Enter the Cast Iron Cauldron. You can use your little cauldron to burn resin, incense and even herbs at the altar.

Also included in the October box is Black Ritual Sand and a Set of Charcoal Discs. Use the black ritual sand inside of the cauldron to absorb the intense heat from the charcoal and resin. Black represents binding and protection. The charcoal discs are meant to heat and melt the resin pebbles. Place flame on the side of disc until it starts to spark. The disc will light all the way through. Place it on the sand in the cauldron and then sprinkle resin on top of the disc.

I was pleased to find a bundle of Yerba Santa in the box. Yerba Santa is known as the “Holy Herb” and used in many divination and ancestral rituals. It is also used in dreamwork. I will be using this at my ancestral altar this year.

This month’s candle is an Ancestral Calling Spell Candle with Mantra. “This spell candle has been made with pure purpose. To call upon our ancestors and guides while the veil is thin. When we burn the candle we break down the barrier between us and our guides, allowing more knowledge and wisdom to pass through.”

The herbs this month are Lavender and Wormwood. “Lavender or “Elf Leaf” is used in healing mixtures, carried to see ghosts, and worn to protect against the evil eye. Wormwood is burned in incense to aid in developing psychic powers, and is also worn for this purpose. Woodworm has been burned to summon spirits. If burned in graveyards the spirit of the dead will rise and speak, per the old grimoires.”

The last item in this seemingly endless box of treasures is a Rough Labradorite. “Labradorite is a powerful Wind element stone used for spirit communication and divination. This stone activates the inner eye, allowing one to more clearly envision the messages coming through readings or meditation. Despite its dark outer appearance it holds a rainbow of brilliant hues visible only when the stone is held in light.”

I hope you enjoyed this month’s look at the Moon Box. Are you a subscriber too? What is your favorite item from the October Witches Veil box?

~ Blessed Be ~
